Coach Gromov is originally from Russia and has been fencing since the young age of 7. He has over 30 years of coaching experience from instruction he received at the former Soviet Union from Multi-Olympic gold medal Champion Grigory Yakovlevich Kriss (1964, 1968). He has coached numerous fencers to great success at local, regional, national and NCAA Division I level tournaments, including several Olympic and World Champions like Jonathan Yergler, Matthew New, Renee Bichette and many others.
He is a strong believer in the importance of family for the correct development of the young. The strength of our club is our parents. We welcome family involvement even if that means learning to fence yourself.
Pro Fencing Academy is a professional member of the USFA (United States Fencing Association) and the USFA Central Florida Division. Both of these agencies do an amazing job of growing the sport of fencing in Central Florida. We are proud to be part of this initiative as we enjoy and love the sport of fencing too. It is a challenging and rewarding sport for both youth and adults. It is one of the few sports/activities that both adults and their children can train together. We are a club that is very passionate about this sport and it's future in the whole country. There are three weapons in fencing (epee, foil, sabre). We train on our specialty weapon- epee. We hope you decide to be part of our club and we welcome all skill levels.
